I have to tell you, today was an exciting day. After a year working online,I finally was able to get some of the best Facebook training to date. We all understand that social marketing is a contemporary trend in online marketing and relationship building. The more I study online marketing or web marketing, the more I realize the importance of being able to build a relationship of trust. Today I learned how to build a fan page from one of the industry leaders,Jason Deitch. There is a distinct difference between a profile page and a fan page. It is important to know the difference.
In a nutshell, the profile page is like your private,or personal page. You share this with those people with whom you have close relationships. Usually family, friends,or close acquaintances. The fan page (often referred to as just a Facebook page) is more suited to conducting business. You can in fact use the fan page as an opt in page,to build company image,or even sell products. It definitely can be used to build your list. If we want to be successful in online marketing,we must gain the skills necessary to that will allow us to take advantage of the facebook powerhouse.
A few interesting pieces of information that I picked up in today’s seminar were:
1) Users spend an average of 55 minutes a day on Facebook
2) Over 50% log in daily
3) Each member averages 130 friends
4) People spend 700 billion minutes per daily or weekly, not sure which,I will have to look it up.
