I have been wanting to write this article for some time. I guess I could have titled this “Thoughts of A Battered Newbie!”.
When I first started my effort to strike it rich online,I remember how excited I was to launch this new business. After all,I had been in business before, and I assumed this would make it easier to succeed online. I began with, what I thought made sense. I signed up for a program that would provide me with my own personal site for free. The person promoting the site had made a gazillion dollars so I should be able to do some small fraction of that, which as a university professor, would make me quite happy. My first awakening was that, even though I had the free site, there were a whole host of other paid services that I would have to sign up for. I guess I should have known this, but it all seemed so easy. Yes,I signed up for every program, most were monthly subscriptions, need I say more.
Within a week my email was packed with exciting new opportunities. Make a gazillion here, make more here. Newest, most wonderful, fantastic program here. Messages like get all the free traffic you want here, massive avalanches of traffic,Google loophole, secret sniper program to riches. Now although these programs were all leading with free, for some reason the programs all cost money. I am sure you understand.
Each week one program looked more attractive than another.
I had some seed money to get started, all of the offers had money back guarantees,so I decided it was worth the risk. I would sign up for what seemed to be a reasonably priced program. I felt good,my payment had just processed. WHAT,now I am being offered the real secret to making this new program work. OTO,One Time Offer, don’t miss this, you will NEVER see this again!. I had to decide on the spot whether or not I could afford to pass up this life altering opportunity,or if I really needed this add on to make this program work? Yes,I bought it!
I felt good,I was fully committed to this new program. Now I could make at least a fraction of the money that big bucks guru made. Oops, another OTO. Why do these keep getting more expensive? I am paying more for the add on than I did for the original program. However,I need to have everything I need to make this work.
YES,I bought it. Now do you understand?
$25000 later,I couldn’t even remember all the programs I purchased. Yes I did get some refunds. However,I was so overwhelmed that I could not keep track of everything. I remember thinking,to quote a famous movie,“Stop the World,I Want To Get Off!”
Now I won’t tell you about the two programs that took my $5000 each and provided me nothing of value. It’s too painful and embarrassing.
Here’s the message of this article:
(1) If you see a web page with fancy cars, big houses, large boats, and scenic sites. RUN!
(2) Slow down and realize that making money online is doable but not easy. It is a business
(3) You must begin at the beginning. ( I have another article dealing with this,I think you will like it.)
(3) Being technically strong may help but it is far from the key to success.
(4) You need training that takes nothing for granted and doesn’t skip over even the minor details.
(5) This training does not have to be expensive. $60-$100 will get you to a point of learning the important skills.
I have not achieved anywhere near, what I would like to. However it is my hope that possibly my $25000 education can save you time and money in starting or growing your online business. Here is food for thought
Jim Thorpe was one of the best all around athletes ever born. He competed at a champion level in multiple sports. One of those was football. Jim Thorpe’s coach was Pop Warner. Pop could not have competed in any sport with Jim Thorpe. However,Pop Warner knew how to bring out the best in Jim Thorpe.
Now don’t get me wrong. I am not doing this for my health. Yes,I want to make money online. However,I have a compelling need to make sure I feel good about what I am promoting and that I am ethical in my efforts.
I have always been motivated by the belief that if you help others get what they want, and treat people the way you would like to be treated, that the money will hunt you down. I found that to be true in my chain of grocery stores,my clothing store,my advertising company, and in my real estate business.
So why this article??? I am presently going through some very high priced training on marketing online. It is expensive but very worth it. I realize not everyone can afford such training,so I will be starting a group on Facebook within the next week. I am inviting any like minded people to join me on Facebook as my friend. With the stipulation that in my upcoming group, there will be no spam allowed. Only positive constructive content will be allowed. My hope is that together, you and I can journey this doable but challenging road of making money online together.
No,I don’t have all the answers. I do have some. I do know where we can get many of the answers. However, for 20 years,I have been training people to work together in teams. One thing I know,“None of us is as smart as all of us” Ken Blanchard. So if you are interested, request to be added as my friend on Facebook at http://facebook.com/doveteam. I will review the requests and those like minded non- spam individuals will have the opportunity to join this group. My commitment is to provide you with quality content and information weekly. I hope you will do the same. I hope it will become a forum for friendly discussion that can lead us to success online.
To your success, whether or not you join me in this well intended effort.
